"BASC members can download the latest edition of the association’s wildfowling permit scheme booklet ahead of the start of the wildfowling season"

Prospects positive for the start of the wildfowling season, says BASC

The prospects for the opening of the forthcoming wildfowling system are positive, according to BASC. The season starts on Friday (September 1st).

BASC's wildfowling officer Mark Greenhough said: "Prospects are quietly hopeful for start for the new season.  Many resident species seem to have had a reasonable breeding year, with clutches of mallard and the goslings of resident goose species such as Canadas and Greylag being spotted in many parts of the country.

"Hopefully as the migrant duck and geese start to arrive on our shores in the coming weeks we will be welcoming good numbers and enjoying a fruitful 2017-18 season."

John Dryden, a member of BASC Council and chairman of BASC's wildfowling liaison committee, said: "Many of our affiliated wildfowling clubs are very happy to enroll new members and especially keen to introduce newcomers to our wonderful sport."

BASC members can download the latest edition of the association’s wildfowling permit scheme booklet ahead of the start of the wildfowling season on 1st September.

Affiliated wildfowling clubs and other organisations provide information for the booklet, which explains how to obtain wildfowling permits in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Permits are offered by many BASC-affiliated wildfowling clubs, local authorities and other organisations.
