Lewis Thornley has been appointed as BASC's Director Central England.
Lewis joined the BASC Central England team as a regional officer in February 2015 following three and a half years as deer officer.
Before joining BASC, Lewis completed a Game and Wildlife Management Diploma at Sparsholt College in Hampshire and worked for the Forestry Commission as a wildlife ranger in Northamptonshire.
Lewis was born and bred in rural Derbyshire and was introduced to country sports at an early age by his father. He has been actively involved in a wide range of shooting disciplines ever since. He is an experienced deer manager and has a keen interest in game shooting, pigeon shooting and working both gundogs and dogs for deer.
He has spent the last eight months as acting Director of BASC Central.
He said: "I'm chuffed to bits. It's an honour to secure the role and I'm very much looking forward to working with our team of volunteers, supporters and members to build on what we have achieved and taking BASC Central even further forward."
Sarah Turner, a member of BASC council, said: "Throughout his career with BASC, Lewis has always performed exceptionally. Over the last eight months he has risen to the challenge and exceeded everyone's expectations. Lewis is a huge asset to BASC and we have no doubt that he will continue to succeed in his new role."
