"He loves all aspects of shooting and will be a valuable addition to the team"

Policeman-turned-gamekeeper joins BASC

BASC has appointed Jake Swindells, a former police officer and gamekeeper, as a country officer for Scotland.

Jake brings a wealth of experience after starting a career with Cheshire Constabulary, before studying for a HNC in gamekeeping and wildlife management at Borders College in Galashiels.

Jake worked as a gamekeeper in the Scottish borders and also in Sweden, then became a senior park ranger and trainer in Ayrshire.

Jake, who has a keen interest in game shooting, stalking and gundog training, said: “Shooting sports are a passion and I am very enthusiastic about BASC’s work.

“I look forward to meeting members across Scotland in the coming months, working on Green Shoots, membership projects and generally doing what I can to raise the association’s profile.”

Dr Colin Shedden, BASC’s Scotland director, said: “We are delighted with Jake’s appointment. He loves all aspects of shooting and will be a valuable addition to the team.”
