Leading Northern Ireland politician visits BASC Head Office
One of Northern Ireland’s leading politicians visited BASC headquarters recently to give a talk to the association’s elected Council.
Patsy McGlone MLA, who is a member of the Social Democratic and Liberal Party (SDLP) spoke to members of BASC Council about the work of the Northern Ireland Assembly’s Committee for Justice and the Assembly's All-Party Group on Country Sports.
Patsy, who is a member of the Justice Committee and chair of the All-Party Group, also met staff and was taken on a tour of the association’s head office in Rossett, Wrexham.
Speaking during his visit, Patsy said: “I am delighted to have been invited to BASC head office and to be given the opportunity to learn more about the wider work of the association. BASC is a very big organisation and I am impressed by the depth and breadth of work that it does on behalf of shooters, not only in Northern Ireland but also at a national level. I also really enjoyed my time on the Marksman ST2 Shooting Simulator and I look forward to using it again when it visits Northern Ireland.”
Tommy Mayne, BASC NI director, said: "I thank Patsy for taking the time to visit BASC head office and to learn more about the wider work of the association. Patsy was particularly interested in BASC’s Green Shoots programme which gives members the opportunity to record what species and habitats of national importance can be found on their land. Green Shoots is extremely successful in linking shooters and non-shooting conservation organisations for the benefit of all wildlife.”
