BASC answer EU gun law fears

BASC has produced a Q&A guide to European plans to change the Firearms Directive in the wake of recent terrorist attacks.

The European Commission has published draft proposals which include stricter licensing controls and a ban on military-looking semi-automatic firearms.

BASC, the UK’s largest shooting organisation, is now working with the government, the Federation of European Hunting Associations (FACE) and other shooting organisations to ensure that sporting firearms are not caught up in the proposals.

The association is calling for a separate legal instrument, and not the Firearms Directive, as the most appropriate way of countering illegal firearms use.

To ensure that those who shoot are kept up to speed with the proposed changes BASC has published a detailed Q&A on its website ( www.basc.org.uk ), which also features external links to the relevant documents.
