NASUWT comments on the Pupil Premium survey

Commenting on a survey by the Sutton Trust which reveals that just 53% of teachers say their school is using Pupil Premium funding to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and some schools are using it to plug holes in their budgets, Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT, the largest teachers’ union said:

"The results of this survey come as no surprise.

"They are the consequence of the failure of the Coalition to ensure there are appropriate checks and balances in the system to ensure all children receive their entitlement.

"As with so much of the Coalition's education policy it is the disadvantaged and vulnerable children who are penalised."
