IET Award finalist in Marks and Spencer’s Leading Ladies campaign

IET volunteer and 2012 Young Woman Engineer of the Year finalist, Roma Agrawal, is hitting the headlines alongside big names such as Annie Lennox and Rita Ora, after retail giant Marks and Spencer chose the 30-year-old structural engineer as one of their ‘Leading Ladies’.

Roma, who is an Associate Structural Engineer at WSP UK, said: “It is a real honour to be involved in this campaign, and I think it is a great boost for the engineering profession as a whole. By showcasing women in different professions, like engineering, it raises our profile and will show other women that a career in engineering could be for them too.”

The campaign, which also features singer Rita Ora, actress Emma Thompson, supermodel Alek Wek, designer Lulu Kennedy, chef Rachel Khoo, and Baroness Doreen Lawrence, showcases British women from diverse backgrounds and professions, united by personal style and inspirational achievements.

Roma Agrawal is a dedicated IET volunteer, and was chosen as a finalist for the IET’s Young Woman Engineer of the Year awards in 2012 due to her innovative work on The Shard and her STEM ambassadorial work. She has since appeared on the BBC’s Daily Politics and in various other media as a representative of the IET.
