IET: Manufacturing leaders to come together to uncover priorities and challenges
Business leaders from the manufacturing community will come together to uncover the strategic priorities of industry and understand how such challenges are going to be met.
The 2013 Sustainable Manufacturing Symposium takes place on 23 October in Coventry. The event aims to bring together leaders from the manufacturing community to uncover the strategic priorities of industry, learn from the achievements made to date, explore the environmental, social and economic challenges as well as discussing how to address these going forward.
The event will uncover thought leadership and how leaders are embedding sustainability throughout their organisations to address significant future challenges.

Dr Ronaldo Ronaldo from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), said: “Europe is determined to make a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 20 per cent by 2020. The manufacturing sector is increasingly making an effort to reduce its energy consumption. Industry’s rise to this challenge is not only to satisfy the greenhouse reduction goal, but also to reduce the Europe’s dependency on fossil fuel.”
Dr Peter Ball from Cranfield University, said: “Many companies are reporting significant progress and it is now easy to find brand name companies posting double digit year on year improvements in their resource efficiency, particularly with respect to energy.”
This symposium is jointly organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Cranfield University, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and The Manufacturer magazine.
