IET: Top energy companies to discuss their futures as smart energy suppliers

Some of the leading names in energy are set to address the future of smart grids, energy storage and smart metering, at an event hosted by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Senior figures from EDF and Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) will join representatives from UK Power Networks, DECC and National Grid among others to speak at the IET’s Power in Unity: A Whole System Approach conference in London on 16 and 17 October.

This event aims to explore the smart energy ecosystem though a two day multi-stream conference focusing on Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Smart Metering and Power Quality.

Dr Simon Harrison, Chair of the IET Energy Policy Panel and keynote speaker, said: “The changes needed across the nation’s power networks are huge and it is becoming evident that a ‘one system’ approach is vital.

“The IET has covered these topics before in smaller, separate seminars, but this is the first time we have hosted a full conference with an overarching theme, bringing the varied elements together through a whole system approach.”

Power in Unity: A Whole System Approach will take place at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury. For more information and registration, please visit the IET website.
