IFAW: Cameron’s badger cull at odds with science

The badger cull that has now started in Somerset and is due to begin in Gloucestershire in the coming days was condemned today by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).

Eminent scientists and wildlife experts as well as many charities, have stated their opposition to this cull because it will not significantly reduce incidents of bovine TB.

Robbie Marsland, UK Director of IFAW said: “Cameron’s cull is going ahead at odds with science and common sense. It must not roll out any further until Parliament has the regrettable chance to examine the data from the 5,000 badgers that will be needlessly sacrificed in the coming weeks.”
