Comment from NEA on The Green Deal

Comment from NEA, the national fuel poverty charity on The Green Deal: watching brief report, published today by the Energy and Climate Change Committee.

Peter Smith, External Affairs Manager at the charity said:

‘NEA welcomes the Committee’s recognition that transparent monitoring is essential to assess how successful the Green Deal and, more importantly, the ECO schemes are at addressing rising fuel poverty levels.

There is considerable risk that the poorest end up paying for the ECO policy through their energy bills but will fail to benefit. We will work hard to ensure these central recommendations are heeded by Government through their evaluation strategy and steering groups’.
