RSPCA: Puppies thrown from moving car
RSPCA hunt callous New Year’s Eve driver
RSPCA is appealing for information after two young puppies were thrown from a Land Rover.
The incident took place at around 3pm on New Year’s Eve, on the New Pass Road near Tonteg in Pontypridd, South Wales.
A driver saw a bin bag being thrown from a black MG style Land Rover. The bag hit their car and burst open at the side of the road.
The driver stopped and discovered that the bag contained two young puppies; one was already dead and the other was suffering from a prolapse (a rectal injury that can be fatal).
“This was a callous and shocking incident which ended in the death of one young puppy and a very narrow escape for the other,” said RSPCA Inspector Christine McNeil.
“There is absolutely no excuse to ‘dispose’ of a living animal in this way. Both pups would have suffered terrible pain, fear and distress,” she added.
The surviving puppy is a male tri-coloured Jack Russell with a black spot on his tail. He is thought to be around eight to ten weeks old and is now in the care of the RSPCA.
After veterinary treatment the puppy is well and will be available for rehoming soon.
There is no CCTV on the New Pass Road, and the RSPCA is urging anyone with information to contact them, in confidence, on the inspectorate appeal line – 0300 123 8018.
