IET: Exceptional students receive engineering and technology scholarships
Students from across the UK have been recognised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) as outstanding, and have received a number of awards and scholarships.
The Belling Engineering Scholarship is awarded to Archie Lodge. The scholarship is worth £12,000 (£3,000 per year for four years). Archie, from Winchester, Hampshire, is studying MEng (Hons) Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
The BP/IET Faraday Scholarship is awarded to Gurpreet Johl, who is studying MEng Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.
The National Electronics Council (NEC) Scholarships are awarded to Duncan Wooder and William Honey. The scholarships are worth £4,000 (£1,000 per year for four years). Duncan Wooder, from London, is studying MEng General Engineering at Durham University. William Honey, from Oakham, Rutland, is studying MEng Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.
The Gerald David Memorial Prize is annually awarded to an outstanding mature student studying for a full or part-time IET accredited engineering degree. This year’s £750 prize is awarded to Sibongile Sibanda who is studying Electronic Engineering at the University of York.
The IET Jubilee Scholarships are awarded to Daniel Eatough, Luke Godfrey, Bryan Hsieh, Rebecca Madden and Daniel Jones. Each Jubilee Scholarship is worth £2,000. Daniel Eatough, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Luke Godfrey, from Frome, Somerset, is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Bryan Hsieh, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, is studying MEng Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London. Rebecca Madden, from London, is studying MEng General Engineering at Durham University. Daniel Jones, from Darlington, is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
IET FUSE Scholarships are awarded to Seema Kapacee, Edward Phillips, Daisy Prior, Helen Sheehan and Olivia Critchley. Each FUSE scholarship is worth £4,000 (£1,000 per year for four years). Seema Kapacee is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Edward Phillips, from Sheffield, is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Daisy Prior, from Leeds, is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Helen Sheehan, from Liverpool, is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge. Olivia Critchley, from Clitheroe, Lancashire, is studying BEng Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle University.
The Belling Engineering Grants are worth £3,000 and are open to British citizens who are due to commence the final year of an IET-accredited mechanical or electrical engineering MEng degree course in the next academic session.
These grants are made in memory of the late Charles Reginald Belling, who was born at Bodmin, Cornwall in 1884. In 1912 he started his own business in Enfield, manufacturing electric heaters, electric water heaters, electric cookers and immersion heaters.
The four recipients of the Belling Engineering Grants are Rebecca Macindoe, Andrew Allan, Michaela Bousfield and Frank Taggart. Rebecca Macindoe is studying MEng Electronics and Music at the University of Glasgow. Andrew Allan, from Glasgow, is studying MEng Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. Michaela Bousfield, from Kendal, Cumbria, is studying Design and Operational Engineering at Durham University. Frank Taggart, from Toome, Northern Ireland, is studying MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast.
IET Grants, worth £1,000 each, are awarded to deserving students who are about to start the second, third or final year of an IET-accredited degree programme.

· Jakub Sanak who is studying MEng Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
· Simone Castagno is studying MEng Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London.
· Mandeep Mohan is studying MEng Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.
· Devin de Sousa is studying BEng Space Technology and Planetary Exploration at the University of Surrey.
· Ross Phillips is studying BSc Computer Science at University College London
· Richa Bhuttar is studying BEng Electronic and Communication Engineering with Industrial Experience at Sheffield University.
· Svetlomir Hristozkov is studying MEng Electronics at Edinburgh University.
· Idris Oseni Alhassan is studying BEng Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Greenwich University.
· Szymon Sidor is studying BA (Hons) Computer Science Tripos at the University of Cambridge.
· James Kent is studying BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Aston University.
· Agnieszka Szefer is studying MEng Computing at Imperial College London
· Jun Ho Song is studying MEng Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London.
· Ross Lucie-Smith is studying MEng Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering at Loughborough University.
