BSIA Previews Security Essen 2012

The British Security Industry Association’s (BSIA) Export Council have given an exclusive preview of the upcoming Security Essen Exhibition, taking place from the 25th – 28th of September, and undertaken a survey of it’s members to discover the trends and issues of the security industry in Europe, particularly in relation to UK companies.

The event is a biannual display of security companies from all over the globe, and is an opportunity for them to promote their services and products to a wide variety of overseas buyers. The main aim of the exhibition is to strengthen ties between foreign security companies and buyers, creating a community for industry suppliers of all nationalities and their clients, thus promoting trade and interaction.

Both the BSIA’s Export Council and it’s members consider this one of the most important events in the calendar, as it is perhaps the biggest opportunity for UK-based companies to influence the national market, and to demonstrate how Britain is one of the leading forces in global private security.

According to the survey run by the BSIA, of which over 75% of it’s responding members are exhibitors at Security Essen, the European market is becoming increasingly important to domestic companies, with 50% reporting an increase in their business on the continent over the last 12 months.

The driving force behind this seems to be technological advances, in particular the progression of hybrid solutions and HD CCTV being key according to almost all of those who took part in the survey.

The BSIA run survey has also illustrated the main vertical markets within Europe: Government, Retail and Critical National Infrastructure. It is these areas which SBIA members are particularly hoping to become more heavily involved with, and Security Essen will be a crucial opportunity for them to explore a range of possibilities and build relationships with a variety of clients.

Caroline Strickley, Export Services Executive at the BSIA, commented: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for UK-based companies to expose themselves to the European market, which is becoming more and more crucial to our own domestic one. The chance to build relationships with buyers from all over the globe cannot be overstated in it’s importance for so many within the industry.’

Caroline went on to state that: ‘Security Essen is a key aspect of bringing the international security market closer together, and will hopefully demonstrate the excellent quality of services and products British security companies have to offer’.

To find out more, visit the BSIA's stand at Security Essen, which will be located in the British Pavilion, Hall 3, along with the other UK based companies.
