NUT Cymru: Top grades between Wales and the rest of the UK has closed

NUT Cymru says it is essential to review the full details of the results and work towards ensuring that greater support is provided to deliver future improvements.

NUT Cymru Secretary, David Evans, said:

“A lot of hard work has gone into delivering positive results.  Pupils, teachers and parents should be proud that working in partnership they have again returned high quality results.
“While every year we hear numerous voices undermining the grades that have been achieved, we should not underestimate exactly how much dedication has gone into achieving good standards against a difficult backdrop.”

David Evans added:

“It is important now that the details of the results are examined fully so that we can ensure that we target the areas that can be improved upon in future.  It is encouraging that the gap in top grades between Wales and the rest of the UK has closed, while we should ensure areas that require greater examination are not overlooked.  We know that our members across Wales will be continuing to work hard on behalf of their students.

“We are sure the Education Minister will want to examine what areas of the system can be improved in cooperation with the profession.  Working together in partnership, and ensuring the right support and right resources are provided, is the best way to build upon the successes that many students in Wales have seen today.”
