United Response: Carers Week – Suffolk Carers get some much needed ‘Time For You’

18th to 24 June is Carers Week and an Ipswich based project which supports unpaid family carers across Suffolk would like to offer carers some much needed rest and relaxation time.

Up and down the UK there are six million people who provide unpaid support for a family member or friend who has an illness, health condition, addiction, disability or mental health issue. Many of these people may not regard themselves as carers and it is these people that Time For You, which is part of the national disability charity, United Response, are particularly hoping to reach through their events.

Penny Simmonds, Project Manager for Time For You, explains:

“People frequently don’t realise they’re carers. They might just say I’m just being a husband, a wife, a son, a daughter, a friend or a good neighbour and as a result many carers don’t take up the opportunities to receive some support themselves. Caring for someone else can be incredibly demanding. Time for You recognises this and wants to offer people a little bit of help to recharge their batteries.”

Over June and July, Time for You will be running the following events for carers in Suffolk.

Monday 18th June, 1-4pm, a drop in coffee afternoon with free Reflexology taster sessions at United Response, 10 Hill View Business Park, Claydon, Suffolk. No pre-booking required. Just pop in.

Saturday 30th June, 10am–2pm, day retreat (including breathing for relaxation, Indian Head Massage and Crystal Healing) at a venue in Ipswich. Pre-booking is essential.
Saturday 7th July, evening dance event in Ipswich. Learn some Cha Cha or Samba, plus disco! Please pre-book for this event.
