BASC Young Shots’ days in the South West

Do your kids have an interest in country sports? The UK’s largest shooting organisation is laying on four introductory days across the South West this spring and summer. The days offer a chance for young people to sample a variety of country activities without denting your wallet.

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) will run four “Introduction to country sports” days which will give youngsters a taste of several different activities including clay pigeon shooting with BASC-accredited coaches, air rifle shooting and a selection from a range of other interests such as conservation, ferreting, wildfowling and pigeon shooting. The cost is £20 per child per day.

Each day is being run in partnership with local BASC-affiliated clubs and businesses.

The dates are:

Saturday 26th May, Newquay, Cornwall with the Cornwall Wildfowlers’ Association
Saturday 16th June, Highbridge, Somerset with the Highbridge, Huntspill and Burnham and District Wildfowling Association.
Sunday 24th June, Shaftesbury, Dorset with the Blackmore Vale Shooting and Conservation Society
Saturday 7th July, Lydney, Gloucestershire with DBC Leisure.

David Gervers, BASC director for the South West said: “We are pleased to be teaming up with local organisations to offer a wide variety of different activities for young people to try out on the day. It’s important that young people get outdoors and learn about the countryside and its activities for themselves.”
