Unite: Risk register: Stop hiding in plain sight!

Unite, Britain's biggest union, says it is time for the government to treat the people of this country with respect and publish the risk register now.

The government has lost its fight to prevent publication of an internal civil service assessment of risks posed by the government's NHS reforms.
Unite national officer, Rachael Maskell said:

"The government has been trying to hide in plain sight. It must now treat the people of this country with respect and publish the risk register. Any further attempts to hide the truth will be a permanent stain on the integrity of this government."

"No one would get away with selling a house without a survey. Why is the government trying to sell these reforms without letting the people of this country see the rot eating away at their NHS.

"We believe the the government is refusing to publish the register because it will expose the high costs of implementation and also expose the risk to patient safety. The government is trying to push this bill through without proper parliamentary oversight.

"It is also hugely important for the Lib Dems to oppose the bill at their conference this weekend. The behaviour of the Tories in the coalition over the risk register is proof enough that the health bill must be scrapped."
