NASUWT endorses TUC call for a day of action on 30th November

Commenting on the TUC decision to coordinate a Day of Action on 30th November 2011, Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT, the largest teachers' union, said this:

“There is considerable anger and concern amongst teachers and headteachers about attacks by the Coalition Government on their pensions, pay, conditions of employment, workload and job security.

“The NASUWT National Executive has already decided to prepare for a ballot for industrial action to commence in the autumn term.

“The emergency meeting of TUC public sector unions called following the debate on pensions at TUC Congress agreed that the TUC should coordinate a national Day of Action on 30th November.

“The NASUWT endorses the TUC Day of Action which will be an important factor in the NASUWT’s ballot preparations.”
