Countryside Alliance Awards: nominate the best of rural Britain

The Countryside Alliance Awards, nicknamed ‘The Rural Oscars’ have opened to nominations. Everyone who supports rural businesses, produce and communities is urged to nominate their favourites and help celebrate the best of rural life.

The Awards, now in their seventh year, are the Countryside Alliance’s celebration of communities, produce, enterprise and rural heritage. Voted for by the public across five categories, they applaud those who routinely go the extra mile for their community and help to promote rural life.

The Award categories are:

· Local Food Award
· Daily Telegraph Village Shop/ Post Office Award
· Enterprise Award
· Butcher Award
· Hunter Rural Hero of 2011

Countryside Alliance Awards Director, Jill Grieve, said: “The Awards have been nicknamed “The Rural Oscars” and they really do have a feelgood factor that gives a boost to everyone involved. I would urge everyone who supports our farmers, businesses and communities to have their say and nominate their favourites. Those who live and work in rural Britain face unique challenges and it is our privilege to honour them.”
