CIHT – Elects New President

The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) is pleased to announce the inauguration of Geoff Allister as its new President.

At his inaugural meeting Geoff set out his aims for CIHT in the Institution’s 80th year, he said:

“The CIHT is a professional organisation that should be proud of what its members have achieved. Under my tenure, the Institution will be concentrating on 3 areas.”

“I aim to provide effective leadership to ensure that we increase our membership whilst focusing on retaining the members we have through providing relevant services and ensuring value for money.”

“The Institution and the industry face many challenges in today’s economic climate. CIHT will be producing key statements to provide guidance and advice to decision makers on transportation policy.”

“It is important that member’s continue to see the value in being involved with the Institution. We will continue to provide the relevant technical, professional development and social related events that are crucial to the success of CIHT.”

Geoff’s theme for the year is “Leading the Way”. This will involve focusing on how the Institution’s highways and transportation professionals have and will continue to provide solutions to the problems we face in society today. This theme will be explored in more detail at the CIHT Presidential Conference 2010 and more information can be found at
