The Construction Products Association’s Chief Executive Michael Ankers has been awarded an OBE in this Queen’s Birthday honours list for ‘services to the construction industry’.

Commenting on his achievement Michael said:

“I am very honoured to have been given this award and the recognition it gives to the importance of construction products manufacturers and suppliers to the economy. I have been working in the construction industry for the past twenty years and am hugely motivated by the continuing challenges that our industry faces. At this time of economic uncertainty it is imperative that we have a healthy construction industry to help lift us out of the recession and provide the homes, schools, hospitals and transport infrastructure that this country needs.”

During his 20 years in the industry Michael has been Director at the Chartered Institute of Building and Chief Executive of the Brick Development Association. In 1999 he moved to London to set up the Construction Products Association which was launched at the beginning of 2000.

The Association has since developed to be one of the leading UK trade associations, having within its membership the 23 major companies in the industry and 43 sector trade associations which between them represent more than 85% of the £40 billion UK construction products industry.

Amongst his other current appointments, he is a member of the 2016 Zero Carbon Task Group and is non-executive Director of the British Board of Agrément. Until the end of last year he was also Chairman the CBI Trade Association Council.
