ABI: Flood and water management bills must stem the tide, says the ABI

Commenting on today’s publication of the draft Flood and Water Management Bill, Stephen Haddrill, the ABI’s Director General, said:

“This draft Bill is an essential step in implementing the Pitt report and in making homeowners in England and Wales safer against flooding. The ABI urges all political parties to reach a rapid consensus on the Bill so that it can be introduced and brought into law as quickly as possible. We look forward to the second key step: the publication of a long-term funding strategy. Both are essential elements in insurers’ deal with the Government that they will continue to provide flood insurance to homes at risk.”
