Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB): CIOB opens up I & R awards to non-members

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has for the first time opened its International Innovation and Research Awards up to non-members and non-CIOB accredited centres.

Dr Sarah Peace the CIOB’s research manager said: “For over ten years these awards have been recognising and promoting the importance of innovation and research within the construction industry. We believe that the flow of new ideas shouldn’t be restricted by any boundary; and so by opening up the awards we aim to engage with as wide a range of new technologies and solutions as we can, no matter where they come from.”

There are seven categories for the 2008/09 awards which cover both academic and practical issues addressing all disciplines within the construction process.

The closing date for the awards is Friday 30th January 2009. For more information please visit http://www.ciob.org.uk/events/irawards or to request an entry form please contact Sarah Peace on telephone 01344 630776 or email research@ciob.org.uk

Sir Frank Lampl FCIOB will be the guest speaker for the Awards evening on 14th May 2009. Sir Frank will give the invited audience an after dinner speech on the importance of innovation and research in the construction industry.
