MDU introduces social media e-learning course

The MDU has launched a new e-learning course to help medical professionals use social media ethically and effectively, avoiding career-damaging pitfalls. The resource, open to both MDU members and non-members, includes fictional scenarios that are based on common queries and concerns we receive from members. Topics covered include:

• marketing yourself and your practice effectively and ethically using social media
• patient confidentiality hazards associated with online media and how to avoid them
• maintaining professional boundaries with patients
• understanding when and how to respond to online criticism
• So far, feedback on the tool has been positive with participants commenting “very helpful and informative” and “really easy to use and very nicely presented.”
