Radiohead’s Thom Yorke: I’ll sue the s*** out of Cameron
David Cameron must avoid ever using Radiohead's music in his election campaigns or the band will "sue the s*** out of him", the group's frontman has said.
Speaking to Dazed and Confused magazine, Thom York also revealed he was unimpressed by the prime minister's insistence that Radiohead are one of his favourite bands.
"Politics is not a fun thing to write about," he said.
"I can't say I love the idea of a banker liking our music, or David Cameron. I can't believe he'd like [Radiohead's last album] King of Limbs much. But I also equally think, who cares?"
"As long as he doesn't use it for his election campaigns, I don't care. I'd sue the living s*** out of him if he did."
Both Cameron and Nick Clegg are fans of Radiohead, one of the few bands to come out of the Britpop era and continue to earn critical and commercial success.
The deputy prime minister picked Street Spirit (Fade Out) as one of his favourite songs on Desert Island Discs, while Cameron selected Fake Plastic Trees when he was on the programme a few years earlier.
Neither man has ever cited a song from their later albums, where the band adopted a more experimental, challenging style.
