Lord Clegg? DPM refuses to rule out becoming a peer

Nick Clegg refused to rule out becoming a peer in an unreformed House of Lords today, during deputy prime minister's questions.

Asked if he would ever consider taking a seat in an unreformed second chamber, he replied: "I certainly hope my reform proposals will be successful."

His refusal to rule out the prospect prompted a barrage of criticism online, with Labour MP Dennis MacShane calling it "wonderful Lib Dem hypocrisy".

Elsewhere in the session, Mr Clegg said a first-born daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton would be able to succeed to the throne, as the change in the arrangements had been de-facto agreed, even if it wasn't yet finalised.
