General election 2010: Gloucester goes Tory

Former Labour minister Parmjit Dhanda has lost his Gloucester seat to the man who once called him a four-letter word.

Tory candidate Richard Graham has taken the seat after an enormous 8.9% swing from Labour to his party.

He once appeared to call Mr Dhanda an obscene term on his blog, for which he apologised.

Mr Graham won 20,267 votes, giving him a 2,420 majority over the former Labour communities minister.

With the loss of Stroud Labour has no seats in Gloucestershire. Only Cheltenham, which will declare this afternoon, remains non-Conservative in the county.
