Arrest over N.Ireland killings

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of two British soldiers at a barracks in Northern Ireland last month.
The man was arrested in the Ballaghy area of County Londonderry at 07:00 BST this morning and taken to a police station in County Antrim for questioning.
Sappers Mark Quinsey and Patrick Azimkar were shot dead as they collected a pizza delivery at the gates of the Massereene Barracks, Antrim, on March 7th.
Republican Colin Duffy was charged with the soldiers’ murders last week, as well as five attempted murders for two soldiers and two pizza delivery men injured in last month’s attack, and one other soldier.
The man arrested this morning will also be questioned about the five attempted murders as well as the deaths of Mr Quinsey, 23, of Birmingham, and Mr Azimkar, 21, of London.
Mr Duffy and six other suspects were released on March 26th after a high court challenge about the legality of their detention, but the 41-year-old, from Logan, was immediately re-arrested and charged with murder a day later.
The killings at Massereene Barracks came two days before policeman Stephen Carroll, 48, was shot and killed as he attended an emergency call in Craigavon.
Former Sinn Fein councillor Brendan McConville and a 17-year-old youth have been charged in connection with PC Carroll’s death and remanded in custody.
