Anti-Hamas protests are expected over the weekend in London, with a large rally planned for Trafalgar Square on Sunday.

The protest, which is designed to counter vociferous demonstrations by pro-Palestinian groups, is being organised by the Board of Deputies of British Jews and the Jewish Leadership Council.

“We ask all London Jewry to attend the rally in Trafalgar Square this Sunday to express their fervent wish that Hamas terror should end so that there will be peace for all the innocent people in the region,” said Simon Hochhauser, president of the United Synagogue.

The protest will begin around 11:00 GMT.

It is designed to coincide with a protest in Manchester at the same time on Sunday, which will take place in Albert Square.

The protest follows violence outside the Israeli embassy in west London on Wednesday night, when pro-Israel groups clashed with Palestinian solidarity campaigners.
