Student protest violence in pictures
See images of today’s violent demonstration in central London, from the good-tempered begins of the protest to its violent end.
The day started peacefully, with demonstrators filing past parliament in the afternoon sun.
Eventually the crowd swelled around parliament and the police presence was increased. From inside Westminster, politicans, journalists and civil servants peered out at the protest.
Over at Millbank, things were becoming anarchic, with protestors gradually taking control of the foyer of Millbank Towers.
The protest became violent, with activists inside and out trying to smash the windows.
